A New Direction

This is a post about change. Get ready for it.

You may have noticed I never share pictures of my step kids on the blog. I debated with myself for a long time about this. I put myself in their mother’s shoes. Would I want another women sharing information about my kids online? I can’t really answer that because I have no biological children so it came down to how I was really feeling. My sister gave me permission to post about my nephew and I love getting to share a bit about him since he is also a huge part of my life. The kids are my world and it made me sad not to get to share more about them. They are such a blessing and so good and I can’t imagine life without them. Nor can I imagine carrying on this blog without them.

So here we are. They will be showing up a lot now. I am a picture-aholic when it comes to them. They grow too fast!

This is my lovely, sassy step-daughter, Autumn. We have a little too much fun together. Maybe because she some how inherited an attitude equally as spicy as mine. She loves telling stories, singing, “moosies” (Smoothies) and “nuggles” (Snuggles).

This is my handsome step-son, Aiden. An exact replica of his dad, all the way down to the corny jokes and mischievous trickery. He is also the sweetest, cuddly little guy and loves when I steal the “sugar” from the back of his neck. He will often times massage my back for me, just because.

And my nephew Baby J! For good measure…

It feels good to be able to talk about the kids and even if it causes trouble between me and …others…it will be worth it.

Now, on the my other announcement…

After much deliberation between me, myself and I, We I have decided to take the blog in a new direction.

I have read many articles, websites and blog posts about how to start your own blog. One of the most important things is to blog about what you love and what you enjoy reading about. Well, I thought I would love blogging about beauty related topics. Boy, was I wrong. I bite my nails and hardly wear makeup people…beauty posting isn’t really my thing. While I enjoy reading some of the beauty blogs I have found, the blogs I am addicted to, the ones I can’t wait to get up in the morning and read, are healthy living blogs.

I have been actively focusing on living a healthier lifestyle since October 2012. I have lost almost 15 pounds by eating better, researching medications that work better for my body (medical conditions) and by adding exercise to my daily plans (though not everyday). When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I did not realize what an uphill battle I would face. I am still learning everyday and am determined to get into shape and feel better. My biggest problem is lack of energy and I am slowly learning how to help that by choosing better foods to eat. Just wish I have figured that out sooner. But, better late than never.

I am proud of the progress I have made and that is due in large part to the healthy living and fitness blogs that I read. They have inspired me that I too could feel better about myself. This change in mindset also came at the perfect time because of my upcoming wedding. I want to not only boost my confidence but also FEEL better physically, more importantly. I won’t say, “If I can do it, you can do it”, although I fully believe that, if you can find the motivation inside yourself. I just want to share my story with others so that I stay motivated to change and maybe I can help one or two others to get motivated in the mean time.

So, I ask for patience as I figure this all out. I have never really been much of a cook, but am slowly learning now at the ripe age of 27. Sad, but true. I want to be a good influence for my kids and showing them how to eat healthier has always been a priority of Ryan and I’s. Now I just need to teach myself ;)

I am not sure what my blog posts will consist of but I do plan on recapping workouts, recipes should I actually successfully make any and continue with the other random thoughts about my life.

This is a big, brave step for me and I would appreciate your feedback on what you would like to read!
